Our History

In January 2011, Minister Veronica Truell prayed about God’s plan and how He wanted her to carry out the vision to start a Christian Sorority.  In February 2011, she submitted the application to an organization where she had both ministry and sorority life. She researched another Christian Sorority to join, in hopes of finding Sisterhood and Ministry together. However, Soror Veronica realized the process wasn’t what she expected. The wonderful thing is that God kept showing her to step out in faith and start a Christian Sorority that “talks the talk” and “walks the walk” in Sisterhood and Ministry. And, like we have all experienced, there have been hard things in life for Min. Veronica encountered numerous obstacles, comments, and questions regarding the establishment of a Christian Sorority in Massachusetts.  But she persevered; she listened and learned from every question and experience.  Soror Veronica always went to God with much prayer and waited for God to give her a sign to move forward.

Then, in May 2012, in Little Compton, RI, she met with the co-founding team of Minister Bonnie Blakeley and Sis. Charlene Cartwright and Sis. Naeemah Fuller. The role was to assist her in moving forward with the vision. They agreed to help, and ideas were put together. The Sisters prayed, and THEIR meeting was very productive. Before choosing a name, Minister Veronica wanted to ensure that the letters they used had a meaning. So, after further research, Chi Rho Alpha “Christ First” was chosen.  The women also discussed the meaning of sisterhood, ministr,y and why such an organization would be important.  They voted on the scripture as Matthew 28:18-20, which speaks to the Sorority ministry’s purpose. The colors were reviewed and accepted as PINK, YELLOW, and RED (covering Blood of Jesus). Then, the mission statement was finalized, and the next step was to implement it.

On June 27, 2012, the sorority was established and incorporated as Chi Rho Alpha Christian Sorority, Inc. The Visionary/Founder Minister Veronica Truell and the Co-Founding Team were on their way to establish God’s vision for the first Christian Sorority in Massachusetts. They were also prayerful about preparations to establish national Sorority Ministry chapters. The first meeting of other women interested in Chi Rho Alpha was held at the Historic Peoples Baptist Church of Boston. The first Alpha Chapter Genesis line for Chi Rho Alpha Christian Sorority, Inc. was inducted on April 24, 2014, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Boston, MA. The full Co-Founding Line includes the legacy lines of Commissioned and Olive Branch.

We thank God for the Vision, His Love, Mercy, and Grace as we continue to move forward.  Our steps are ordered in the One who is our Rock, our Strength, and Shield. We follow the One who is able to keep us from falling, and who will present us faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy!

There is a call for us to walk as Women of God and to possess the authority of Jesus Christ, while each carries out their ordained vocation. It is essential that we walk in the light of Christ, serving as a witness to those we encounter and fellowship with in our daily lives. (1 John 1:7)
