Chi Rho Alpha Christian Sorority Anti-Hazing Statement

(All potential members of the sorority must sign the following statement at their first Dovette Session )

Ephesians 4:29-32 NIV

29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Thus, the Chi Rho Alpha Christian Sorority, Inc. prohibits any form of hazing to any new or current members; both on a national level as well as in its individual chapters. The sorority strives to empower and uplift women we do not wish to degrade or embarrass any of our Sorors.  As a condition of receiving the privilege to become a sorority sister of Chi Rho Alpha Christian Sorority, Inc., I hereby understand and will not be involved with any hazing  -- further illustrated by the definitions given below:

Hazing activities are generally defined as:  Any action taken or situation created, intentionally, whether on or off sorority premises, to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule. Such activities may include but are not limited to the following: paddling in any form; physical and psychological shocks; quests, treasure hunts, scavenger hunts, road trips or any other such activities carried on outside or inside the confines of the chapter house; wearing of public apparel which is conspicuous and not normally in good taste; engaging in public stunts; morally degrading or humiliating games; and any other activities which are not consistent with ministry, academic achievement, regulations and policies of the educational institution, or applicable state law.

Furthermore Chi Rho Alpha Christian Sorority, Inc. further defines hazing activities as:  any forced, coerced, or permitted activities of a physical, psychological or emotional nature that may adversely affect the physical and/or mental health of an individual. The activity may not in any way inhibit a new member’s ability to fulfill her academic responsibilities or communicate with faculty, staff, other students or families. This includes but is not limited to activities on or off school grounds, with or without the newcomer's consent, which may cause fatigue, humiliation, a sense of being sexually assaulted or physically threatened, mental or physical harm or injury including intoxication to a person in the context of initiating that person into a student group. Also forbidden is all intimidation prior to a hazing or the invention of hazing acts that are conveyed to a newcomer to intimidate or invoke fear; even if the individual has no intent of doing those misdeeds.
